American Electric Power is one of the largest electrical companies in the United States AEP is 95% regulated with production, transmission and distribution operations with relatively small gas operations. The eight public services and the public integrated distribution services of the company provide electricity to more than 5.6 million customers in 11 states of Midwest and Southeast. AEP has approximately 29 GW of generation capacity and 225,000 distribution lines. AEP also has the country’s largest electrical transmission system, with 40,000 miles system. The revenues in 2024 were $ 19.7 billion and the transmission represented around 60%.
The company had been in strategic examination of its energy activity which ended in 2T24. AEP also announced a new senior high management at 3T24. The company has sold several unregulated operations and is well placed to stimulate profits growth thanks to investments in its regulated activities, to improve transmission and to the increased use of renewable energies.
