Real Madrid is faced with the Champions League Champions League qualifiers with a central defensive makeshift twinning after David Alaba has undergone another injury.

The Austrian international returned to an absence of 13 months due to an ACL broken last month and the boss of Madrid, Carlo Ancelotti, had hoped to put him back in order to be available for the tie on two legs with City during the next fortnight.

But Alaba has now supported a thigh problem that could prevent it up to three weeks. Antonio Rudiger underwent an injury to the hamstrings against Espanyol on Saturday – his calendar for recovery is the same as that of Alaba – while Eder Militao is absent for the season.

It’s a horrible moment for Madrid, who will face the weekend derby with Atletico Madrid and the two games against City with a defensive fortune agreement from the Aurelien Tchouameni midfielder and the young Raul Asencio.

“After tests carried out on our player David Alaba by the Real Madrid medical services, he was diagnosed with an adductor muscle injury in his left leg,” said a club statement.

Five crunch games in advance

Alaba and Rudiger could miss the following games:

  • Leganes (A) – Copa del Rey – February 5
  • Atletico Madrid (H) – La Liga – February 8
  • Manchester City (A) – Champions League – February 11
  • Osasuna (a) – La Liga – February 15
  • Manchester City (H) – Champions League – February 19 (doubtful)

Tchouameni and Asencio to intensify

Tchouameni had to defend in defense several times this season whilesecio, 21, only made 14 appearances for Madrid, including four in the Champions League.

Madrid faces the Leganes in the Copa del Rey tomorrow evening but look for it without Jude Bellingham and Vinicius Jr, who both missed training today and will be rested for equality in the municipal buttock of Estadio.

The men of Ancelotti are still at the top of the Liga despite the 1-0 Saturday defeat against Espanyol, but they only have one point ahead of Atletico and four in front of Barcelona.
