Did Taylor Swift Really Need Another Grammy?

The album was a confused mixture of songs crying the loss of a deep love (Joe Alwyn), the anger of being burned by a recent flame (Matty Healy), and the excitement of a new emerging love (Kelce Travis). It is not surprising that “So High School” and “The Alchemy” are so strongly evaluated by fans – these songs reflect the essence of a good quick song. She likes to be in love, and it shows.

The album falls flat when she seems to find the catharsis. Songs like “Impongagetyouback” and “I hate it here” reflect an angry and bitter despised lover while “but daddy I love him” almost gives the impression that she welcomed her own sorrow. It looks like the lyrics scribbled on a newspaper page by an angry teenager and sung in a microphone without edition or honest critic.

Swift is a prolific singer-songwriter. Any swiftie would be delighted to get 31 new songs from Taylor Swift, but is it important how many songs are there if they are just mediocre? Swift showed us that she was able to much better, and it seems almost a bad service to the Grammys to give her a price just because she is THE Taylor Swift. She has always had a lot of competition, but “the department of tortured poets” had the impression of getting out of the new music just because she could, not because she had something new to say.
