For the first time in English domestic football, semi-automated offside technology will be introduced during the fifth round of the FA Cup.
On Thursday, the football association announced that this technology would be deployed in the seven matches to be held in the premier League scene.
The Premier League clubs had initially approved the use of technology for the 2024-25 season in April, with plans to deploy it in October 2024.
However, its implementation has been postponed to allow additional tests, which has only relieved those responsible this season.
The FA said: “After a successful live operation in the Emirates FA Cup, the Premier League will seek to implement the system later this season.
“Semi-automated offside technology will provide a more effective placement of the virtual offside line, based on the follow-up of optical players and will produce virtual graphics to ensure improved experience in the stadium and diffusion for supporters .

“The operation of semi-automated offside technology does not change the accuracy of decision-making but improves the speed and efficiency of the process.”

In addition to that, the referees of the video assistant (VAR) will be in place for the eight fifth round lights of the FA Cup, including the game in the Preston championship, where the referees will provide Var announcements in the stadium.
The fifth round matches are expected to take place on the weekend on Saturday March 1st.
The giants Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea and Tottenham were all eliminated, while the holders of Manchester United, compete with Manchester City, Newcastle and Aston Villa all remain in the competition.
