French govt may face no-confidence vote as PM plans to bypass parliament

The French government is likely to face a vote without confidence this week while Prime Minister François Bayrou said that he planned to push his budgetary plans to Parliament without a vote by using the now sadly famous law on 49.3. The latter, also used by former Prime Minister Michel Barnier, allows the government to bypass legislators when adopting laws.
