Krispy Kreme said Thursday that he paused a planned deployment of the sale of donuts McDonald’s locations nationally.
The donut chain said it “re -evaluated the deployment calendar with McDonald’s while it works to obtain a profitable business model for all parties”.
Krispy Kreme sells donuts in more than 2,400 McDonald’s restaurants at the end of March, and the chain does not expect to add more restaurants in the second quarter of 2025.

“I remain confident in the long -term national opportunity, but we must work with them to identify the levers to improve sales, simplify operations,” said Krispy Kreme CEO Josh Charlesworth, during a call for results. “And once we are positioned for profitable growth, we will develop more.”
Charlesworth said the request had dropped expectations after the initial launch, “requiring intervention”.
The two companies announced the partnership in March 2024, And intended to sell the donuts of all McDonald’s locations in the United States by the end of 2026.

“Significantly, by making Krispy Kreme accessible to fans of the country through this partnership, we expect more than double of our access points by the end of 2026,” said Charlesworth last year as part of the announcement. “The partnership accelerates the development of our daily fresh channel delivered existing, creating an operational lever effect thanks to the distribution density and the use of production.”
Krispy Kreme also withdrew his annual perspectives due to “macroeconomic sweetness and uncertainty around the McDonald’s deployment calendar”.
