Sony Corp. Shake the main leaders of the company as well as in its main PlayStation division. He appointed Hiroki Totoki as CEO, and Hideaki Nishino will be the only CEO of the PlayStation division, Sony Interactive Entertainment.

Totoki, a 38 -year -old Sony veteran, will replace Kenichiro Yoshida as CEO on April 1, 2025. (Yes, this is not an April Fool’s joke). Totoki was previously chief of the farm and financial director. That’s right. He is a financial guy, not a technologist or a game leader, managing the whole business.

Hiroki Totoki is Sony’s new CEO.

In May 2024, Nishino was appointed CEO of the Sony Interactive Platform Business Group, while the Hermen Hulst game developer was appointed CEO of the Division Studio Business Group. They replaced CEO Jim Ryan after retirement. Nishino will now be the owner of Hulst. The new title of Nishino is the president and chief executive officer of Sony Interactive Entertainment, and he is still CEO of Platform Business Group and the Business Group studio. Hulst will direct the development, publishing and commercial operations of the content of the first party of SIE.

Hulst will also lead to work with Sony Pictures in the development of adaptations of his games as television, films and other transmedia via PlayStation Productions.

Meanwhile, earlier this month, Sony Pictures Entertainment saw a change while Ravi Ahuja resumed the tasks of the CEO of Tony Vinciccerra. Ahuja introduced himself to Sony’s press event these 2025 on his first CEO day. And Lin Tao is Sony’s new financial director – the first CFO woman during the company’s 80th anniversary.

Sony has around 110,000 employees, with large companies in cameras and imaging devices, televisions, PlayStation game consoles and movies and television shows. It also makes a new electric car with Honda – Afeela, filled with a PlayStation 5.

Yoshida has run Sony since 2018. Meanwhile, he focused on high -margin products like cameras, and he acquired EMI as part of Sony Music for $ 3.5 billion.

My observation on these changes? I know all Sony’s products and consoles. But I no longer recognize the people who direct the business. I knew once all the leaders like Kaz Hirai, Andrew House, Jack Tretton, Shawn Layden, Hermen Hulst, Shu Yoshida, Adam Boyes and more. Now, almost anyone.

Yoshida declared in a press release that on the basis of his achievements at Sony, he proposed that Totoki succeeds him to change the regime, creating Totoki for investments in IP content and semiconductors. Yoshida will continue as president.
