Developers are wary of the haunting drawbacks of changes in the integrated purchasing models of a game. It turns out that they can be so catastrophic that they can shoot the whole game with them.

This is the case with the iOS version of Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles, itself a remaster of a gamecube 2003 game, then carried on the mobile platforms. On all versions of the game, including Switch, PlayStation 4 and Android, the player could buy costumes for their character to imitate other Final Fantasy references throughout the series. In mobile versions in particular, integrated purchases also allowed the player to switch from demo to the full version of the game. The recent modifications of this purchase model in the application have slipped, without giving buyers their rights after the purchase, and Square-énix says they cannot repair it.

“The problem is due to the changes to the purchase model in the application,” said the message on the official website of the Final Fantasy series. “A more in -depth investigation has revealed that we are unable to fully correct the bug and implement the new modifications, which makes it unlikely to take up service for the game. Thus, we must regret with regret that we will end the support of the iOS version of Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles. »»

Square Enix states that this bug has only been reported since the last week of January. Refunds for players who have exceeded the bug to complete purchases are available within a certain purchase period.

This is an approximate lesson for Square Enix, since it is probably crystal chronicles on iOS that cost money for the port. It can also be an important lesson to be transmitted to the rest of the industry: little things can always crash the sky if it is not manipulated with great care.
