10-year Treasury yield rises slightly, hovering near seven-month high

The 10-year Treasury yield rose again on Friday, hovering near its highest level in seven months.

Return on the benchmark index Cash flow at 10 years was 4 basis points higher at 4.626%. The 10-year yield hit a high of 4.641% in the previous session, reaching its highest level since May. THE Cash flow over 2 years was slightly lower at 4.318%.

One basis point equals 0.01%. Yields move inversely to prices.

After the Christmas holidays, unemployment claims Data released Thursday for the week ending Dec. 21 fell 1,000 to 219,000, below the Dow Jones consensus forecast of 225,000.

However, continuing claims increased by 46,000 for the week ending December 14, reaching their highest level since November 2021.

The 10-year Treasury yield rose more than 40 basis points in December as traders anticipate a more hawkish Federal Reserve in 2025. The next central bank meeting will take place at the end of January, when rates are expected to remain unchanged.
