Hartford police are still searching for the suspect(s) involved in the shooting of a 12-year-old boy. The incident reportedly took place around 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday (January 2022) while the boy, whose name is not yet public, was playing with an 11-year-old child. A snowball hit a pass car On the street, and the driver buckled.
The younger child did not suffer any gunshot wounds, but the 12-year-old did. At that time, PEOPLE reports that the boy’s injuries are not life-threatening. Doctors treated him at Connecticut Children’s Medical Center.
What happens next in the snowball shoot?
The investigation is still open. However, as of Friday, police have no suspects in custody. Hartford Police Lt. Aaron Boisver told reporters that the driver chased away the children before shooting it.
“The 12-year-old was with another juvenile, throwing snowballs, a…snowball hit a car, that car circled the block and chased the kids and shot bullets at the kids ” Aaron Boisvert said, according to a Fox 61 Connecticut clip.

Local reports say police have video footage that is helping the investigation but have not revealed what the video shows. At this time, it is unclear whether the snowball that hit the car was an accident or intentional.
In 2023, William Carson was sentenced to 16 years in prison after his enraged reaction to a band hitting his car with a snowball. Carson stopped and fired several shots at the children. Bullets struck two of the seven children in the thigh and arm.
Milwaukee police arrested Carson a few days later and charged him with two counts of first-degree reckless injury and five counts of first-degree reckless safety. Hartford police have not announced their charges in this recent case.
