The four most terrifying words that any public personality could possibly hear are “I am your biggest fan” and the 1990 cinematographic adaptation of Stephen King Misery is one of the best examples of how an unhealthy obsession can turn into something much more sinister. While most of the psychological horror stories today tend to focus on an unreliable protagonist confronted with a kind of alleged demonic possession, Misery is cut in a completely different fabric because we are dealing with a level author who is held against his will by a crazy fan who is so desperately passionate about him that there is very little room for interpretation.
But let’s not be mistaken, as naked and simple as Misery May seem to ROUGAGER at first glance, it is more than 30 years later due to the way this dynamic is convincingly by its main stars, James Caan and Kathy Bates.
An effective thriller with zero fat

At the value of the face, Misery is a simple story that is reinforced by the complexity of her main antagonist, Annie Wilkes (Kathy Bates), a reclusive woman who claims to be a number one fan of the author Paul Sheldon (James Caan).
Paul Sheldon, who is relieved to be finished with the most sold eponymous romantic series so that he can pursue other literary projects, enters an almost deadly car accident, but only before being “saved” by Annie .
While Paul is breastfed to health Misery, He learns that not only is Annie a disturbed fan who has been tracking him for some time, but she also plans to keep him locked up in her house indefinitely when she discovers her intention to kill her favorite character with the publication of her future novel.
If you are wondering what’s going on elsewhere MiseryThe answer is “not much”, but it is not what is important.
Kathy Bates is a force of nature

If there is a reason for you to sit down and watch MiseryIt is the representation by Kathy Bates of Annie Wilkes – a woman who is at a hot, maternal and gentle moment, but only before slamming and becoming hostile towards Paul, who first tries to be cooperative with his ravableman , but becomes more and more desperate when it becomes obvious that he may not survive the entire test if he does not do what she says.
James Caan, who plays Kathy Bates as if he was really held hostage on the sound scene during the production of Miserygives life to Paul Sheldon as his stoic but calculating victim of the circumstances which knows that his time is exhausted.
And just when things become too serious to handle, the buster sheriff (Richard Farnsworth) and the assistant victim (Frances Sternhagen) add a little light.
The intrigue of the current investigation alongside what is happening inside Annie’s residence while Paul fights for his life will keep you at the edge of your seat – especially when Annie leaves to do shopping And Paul is left to his own devices, knowing that he only has a few minutes to understand his next movements in this dangerous cat and mouse game.

Not all Stephen King Adaptations are created equal (I look at you, Under the dome), but I can say with confidence that Misery is among the best to have been filmed. I always keep that It’s the Spinal Tap Is Rob Reiner’s coronation as a director, but as we compare apples and oranges here, I have absolutely no qualms about saying that Misery has won its legitimate place in the genre as one of the most effective thrillers of its time that is due to date.
