1Password has added a new feature that allows users to label their entries with physical locations. In this way, when the user is close to the location of a diploma, this information will be surfaced in the mobile application of the password manager. This “nearby articles” feature makes the most relevant information quickly available for 1PASSWORD customers and deletes the need to search for correct details or to remember exactly what you have named an account.

Location information can be added to any new or existing element in a 1Password safe. The application has also been updated with a card view to define and display the locations of your elements. In the blog post announcing the functionality, the company has cited examples such as door codes for a workplace, health files in a doctor’s office, WiFi access to the gymnasium and rewards membership information to local stores as potential uses for location data.

Confidentiality and security are essential for a password manager, and 1PASSWORD confirmed that a user location is only used locally and do not leave the device. Nearby items are available for 1PASSWORD customers from today.
