The higher education system of India, despite being among the largest in the world, faces a widening gap between the outbreak of tuition fees and the reduction in results. Many private educational establishments, in particular those who offer engineering, management and medicine diplomas, charge high fees, but often do not reach promises of placement.

Apart from elite institutions such as IIT and IIM, graduates are often overwhelmed by expensive diplomas and few job prospects. As concerns are mounted on the quality, relevance and accessibility of higher education, the votes of the ecosystem call cracks with an increasing emergency.

Akshat Shrivastava, financial advisor and CEO of the Wisdom Hatch Fund, strongly criticized the state of private education in India, saying that “99% of private colleges in India are a scam”.

In an article on X (formerly Twitter), Shrivastava wrote: “99% of private colleges in India are a scam. The average investment rate in private colleges: (1) 2021-2022: 60-80%, (2) 2023-2024: 20-40%. ”

He added: “Despite this:

  • These colleges announce a “CTC” (which is a scam to start).
  • Continue to increase their costs.
  • And continue to push people to take more debts. »»

“They create an ecosystem: where most teachers do not know how to teach, most students do not even want to go to university. And yet the management continues to make money. While the world evolves towards the award of results based on skills. This model has no place, ”said Shrivastava.

His remarks resonated widely online.

“Accept a good measure. Industrial education index: skills taught to train market needs. Students are pursuing diplomas for identification information, and not passion. Fix requires: updated programs for real world skills, more practical training, career advice for objectives focused,” replied a user.

Another user commented: “Nowadays, there is a system of organization of diploma in digital marketing / AI / Data Analytics for 6 months and obtaining a CTC warranty of 6-10 Lakhs, all that falls in scam.”
