Unai Emery confirmed that Ollie Watkins had snubbed the interest of Arsenal and wants to stay in Aston Villa.
The English international was the subject of a reported offer of 60 million pounds sterling from the Gunners earlier this week, the news that broke only a few hours before the Villa 4-2 victory against Celtic in the Champions League Wednesday evening, a match in which Watkins scored and missed a sentence.
With Jhon Duran on the point of sealing a move of 64 million pounds sterling in Al Nassr, the last thing Villa needs is that Watkins indicates that he also wants to go out. But Emery said, after talking to him, the 29 -year -old is happy at Villa Park.
Emery said, “Yes, he is happy to stay. We asked him how he felt every day and he is happy here.
“He really appreciates the way Villa always supported him and helped him, when we joined here two years ago, how we worked with him and took the best of him.
“Now we need him, as he needed Aston Villa in recent years. I talk to him a lot, he always adapts to all the circumstances we have and of course, when some teams call us interested in players, it’s very good for us and the players.
“Some players prefer to leave and some agree to stay here and get involved with our challenges. One of them is Ollie Watkins. »»
