A woman accused of having killed her nine-year-old son and burying her body in his backyard of Detroit was accused of murder, a prosecutor announced on Wednesday.
A shallow tomb holding the remains of Zemar King was discovered on January 6 while the owner was preparing the house for the new tenants.
No details were published at that time, although the Detroit police recognized that an investigation was underway.
Zemar was suffocated to death on October 24, two weeks before his 41 -year -old mother left for Georgia with a three -year -old son, said Wayne County prosecutor Kym Worthy.
“I have been a prosecutor for a long time, and I often say that I have seen everything. The horrors of this case of child abuse challenge this,” said Worthy.
The mother was arrested on January 10 in an unrelated case in Cobb county, in Georgia, according to online files. She was waiting for extradition to Michigan for murder and other crimes.
“This case is rather shocking,” said Todd Betnison, acting police chief in Detroit.
