Three empty buses exploded at the southern end of such Aviv in what Israeli police say they are an “alleged terrorist attack”.
It happened in parking lots in the city of Bat Yam on Thursday evening. There was no victim.
The devices in two other buses have not exploded, police said.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered Israeli soldiers to carry out “an intensive operation against terrorism centers” in the occupied West Bank in response.
Images on social networks have shown at least one bus on fire in a parking lot, with a large plume of smoke rising above.
Police spokesman Aryeh Doron said the police were still trying to locate more bombs in Tel Aviv.
“Our forces still travel the region,” Doron told Channel 12 shortly after the explosions, adding that the public must be alert for “each bag or suspicious object”.
“We can be lucky if the terrorists have put these timers at the wrong hour. But it is too early to determine,” he said.
According to local media, one of the not exploded devices, weighing 5 kg, brought a message saying “revenge of Tulkarm” – referring to a recent operation to combat Israeli military terrorism in the West Bank.
Israeli defense forces have been carrying out operations against Palestinian militant groups in the West Bank for months, in particular by focusing on Tulkarm and Jenin in the North.
Hundreds of Palestinians were killed because Israeli forces have intensified their raids.
The Minister of Transport Miri Regev interrupted All buses, trains and light trains across the country so that the verifications of explosive devices can be carried out, the Israeli media said.
