The Tata and Bharti groups would have approached the finalization of a merger between their direct home companies (DTH), Tata Play and Airtel Digital TV. This merger comes as the public gradually moves from DTH to digital platforms.

According to a report by The Economic Times, the merger will take place thanks to a sharing exchange, which will increase the non -mobile income from Airtel.

According to the report, Airtel will hold more than 50% in the combined entity. Airtel is expected to hold 52 to 55% of the combined entity, while Tata shareholders play, including Walt Disney, will hold 45 to 48%. Airtel’s senior management is expected to manage the entity, while Tata should keep two seats on the board of directors, added the report.

The two parties should soon announce the terms of the agreement. Reasonable diligence will start after that. The two operations would be estimated at approximately 6,000 to 7,000 beliefs.

The two entities had a total of 35 million subscribers paid in September 2024, and income from the 2010 fiscal year exceeded 7,000 breaks of rupees.

With the agreement, Airtel will have access to the 19 million houses in Tata Play. The agreement would be the second major transaction in the DTH sector in about a decade, after the DISH TV-Videocon D2H merger in 2016.
