Japan has deployed more than 2,000 soldiers and firefighters from across the country to fight forest fire in a northeast coastal town that has damaged dozens of houses and forced the evacuation of more than 1,200 people. The fire has burned about 2,100 hectares of forest in ōfunato since its beginning last Wednesday, according to the Fire and Disaster Management Agency.
