‘A good-looking woman will be promoted…’: ;’Fairly feminist’ Redditor claims workplace favours females, biased against male employees

A reddit post of a man accusing his workplace of promoting the employees of their male counterparts sparked a debate on social networks. The user, who described himself as a “fairly feminist” person until recently, said that women from his office were working for less hours but receive faster promotions, while men should spend longer hours without additional compensation.

“I am a 24 year old man, I am a fairly feminist person (so far). But since I entered the workplace, I can see the difference in the way men and women are treated,” he wrote.

Gender disparity complaints

The Redditor has listed several ways which he believes that men are faced with drawbacks at work:

  • Women receiving lighter consequences for errors that would be expensive for men.

  • Women working strictly from 9 to 5 while men should perform a quarter of 14 to 15 hours without additional salary.

  • Higher employees take longer to supervise female colleagues, while men should learn for themselves.

  • Women being priority for promotions, often based on appearance rather than skills.

He said he doesn’t hate women, and he doesn’t blame them for his own difficulties. He added that even female colleagues have recognized the bias of the workplace. “It is in a way given that a beautiful woman will be promoted without any skills … a little sad about this situation, either you must be the best and give your whole life or be sidelined all your life,” he concluded.

Social media reactions

The position received mixed reactions. Some users have sympathized with its concerns, but have stressed that the real problem lies in the direction, not the employees.

A user said, “You should hate your workplace, not women. Help your bosses that exploit men, not women.”

“You are right to notice injustice, but it is not the recipient’s fault. He who gives such favors must be blamed,” noted another.

A speaker agrees with certain points but did not agree on working hours. “Maybe beautiful women or those who stay close to certain managers work less, but the rest of us are also working for long hours.”

Some users have shared their own experiences with sex -based hunts. One of them said: “The hiring of diversity has done so much damage to the boys of 2024 passages. Some companies have held interviews for an equal number of men and women, but ended up selecting only 2 boys and 70 girls.”

“Girls who don’t even know how to open the Windows task manager were placed with 12 LPA packages,” said another.

While some have recognized that workers and deserving women succeed in their merit, the discussion has highlighted increasing frustrations concerning gender policies in hiring and promotions.
