Virgil Van Dijk received a lucrative offer to join the Saudi side al-Hilal, according to a report from the French daily newspaper L’Equipe.
The captain of Liverpool is without a contract in Anfield at the end of the season and is free to speak to clubs from abroad since January 1.
The team says that Van Dijk is considering the agreement worth £ 320,000 per week.
The 33-year-old man is one of the three main Liverpool players whose contracts expire in summer, alongside Mohamed Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold.
Alexander-Arnold is likely to join Real Madrid on a free transfer while the future of high level Salah remains uncertain.
Van Dijk says he’s in the dark
Speaking about his own situation after the elimination of Liverpool in the Champions League in the hands of Paris Saint-Germain Tuesday evening, Van Dijk insisted that he did not know where he would play next season.
He said to Times, “I have no idea. I still have no idea at the moment. Really, I have no idea at the moment.
“It is not pending. Nothing pending. There is just … I continue to say the same thing.
“Listen, there are 10 games to do, and that’s my full goal. If there is news, you will know it. I don’t even know myself. Everyone knows there are conversations behind the scenes, but that’s about it.
“For the moment, I don’t even know what’s going on next year. If someone says he knows it, he lies in your face.
