Newcastle manager Eddie Howe revealed that he was “not in an ideal place after his team lost the EFL Cup final in 2023 against Manchester United – but says that the defeat is” not relevant “while the Magpies are preparing to face Liverpool in this season’s decision -maker at the Wembley stadium (4.30 Hours of GMT).
More than three years after his appointment, Howe has a second chance to win Newcastle’s first major trophy since the FA Cup 1954/55 and defeat his memories of the first final of his career, when his players gathered two attempts on the target and conceded both goals before the 40th minute in a 2-0 defeat.
