Ange Postecoglou admits Tottenham’s recent form ‘hurts extremely’ but believes the team can turn things around.

Spurs conceded a late equalizer as they drew 2-2 at Wolves in the Premier League on Sunday – a result which means Postecoglou’s side have won just twice in their last ten matches in all competitions confused.

Tottenham remain in the bottom half of the table, two points behind tenth-placed Brighton, but Postecoglou’s side have been decimated by injuries in recent weeks.

Destiny Udogie became the latest to limp off after a knock, becoming Spurs’ ninth unavailable player.

“It hurts me because I am responsible,” Postecoglou told Sky Sports.

“When I see how hard the players are trying, it hurts even more. I wanted them to be rewarded for their efforts. It hurts extremely. It’s my responsibility to know where we are right now.

“I will continue. We have work to do to get help with these players. Our role is to help them give the best of themselves.

“I can see how hard they are trying. If we were at our best we would have scored the third and fourth goals, we were inches away.

Expressing his frustration at the current injury list, the Spurs boss added: “We lack the dynamic movement we need.

“Where did Deki [Kulusevski] get the energy from ? Dom [Solanke]Sonny [Son Heung-min]. These guys fight energy and are not as sharp as we can be.

“We are struggling to cope and we are not able to get a good flow in terms of players returning to allow us to refresh the team. When you get one back, you lose one.

“At some point we will have a healthy team and we will be able to play at a high level. We showed that we can beat anyone.

“There’s always a chance to run. This is secondary to supporting the players, both physically, mentally and in terms of numbers.

Tottenham will be next in action when they host Newcastle in their first match of 2025 on January 4.
