Castro found his brother on Friday in Paita in northwest Peru, a city about 400 kilometers from the Ecuadorian border.
He said he had survived by drinking rainwater and consuming everything he could catch the ocean.
After his return safely, Castro told journalists that he did not want to die and that the thoughts of his family, including his mother, had given him strength.
“It was 95 days. I ate cockroaches, birds, the last thing I ate, these are the turtles,” he said. “I have a two-month-old granddaughter. I welcomed it. “
After approaching the press, Castro received medical treatment in Paita before being sent to Lima, the capital of Peru, where he found his daughter at Jorge Chávez International Airport, who arrived with a bottle of Pisco, the national drink of Peru.
His niece, Leyla Torres Napa, said that the family was looking forward to celebrating Castro’s birthday, who passed when he was at sea.
“The day of his birth was unique because everything he could eat [while at sea] was a small cookie, so it is very important to us that we celebrate because, for us, it has renamed, “she told the press press.
