The director general of the champion, Mike Peters, told Bocanewsnow.com, who reported the incident for the first time: “At Champion, we have firmly determined to promote an environment rooted in respect, professionalism and integrity. Incidents like this remind us of the importance of these values, and we will use this moment as an opportunity to strengthen them – both internally and in our larger relationships.
“In the continuation of these standards, Naveen Maraj informed that he will resign from his job with champion and to withdraw from his management and leadership roles with the company in force immediately.”
Fox Business contacted the comments champion.
Elsewhere in the long declaration, Peters described Maraj’s comments as “offensive and inexcusable”, but said that Maraj and the client, John Wolff, have a personal friendship, and the “comment was not made with the intention of harming”.
“Notwithstanding, we recognize that intention does not deny the impact,” he added. “The language used was inappropriate and does not reflect the standards of conduct or mutual respect which has been part of the champion culture for more than 38 years.”

“As a context, Mr. Wolff and Mr. Naveen Maraj have maintained a close personal friendship for over 14 years,” said Peters. “During this period, they became passionate fishing partners and became what Naveen believed to be a close friend. This friendship included a certain degree of occasional jokes and familiarity which, although included in private, can easily be misinterpreted – or become completely inappropriate – when they are seen outside this context.
“The remark in question was made on a personal basis and was not entirely unrelated to the role or responsibilities of Mr. Maraj at Champion. It was a moment of informality badly placed with friends, not a deliberate attempt to offend or harm.”
