Nottingham Forest made it six straight Premier League wins as they saw off a much-improved Wolves side to move level on points with second-placed Arsenal.

Goalkeeper Matz Sels made some fine saves to deny Wolves a brilliant first half and at the other end Morgan Gibbs-White, Chris Wood and Taiwo Awoniyi all scored after trademark counter-attacks.

Wolves manager Vitor Pereira will be reassured that his side created so many good chances, but they couldn’t take them and Forest took their chances perfectly.

Former Wolves boss Nuno Esprito Santo has now seen his side take the lead in 16 of their 20 league matches and they are just six points behind Liverpool – who they host next week.

With new England manager Thomas Tuchel in the stands, Forest marked the 50th anniversary of the appointment of their greatest manager Brian Clough in style.

A pass from Elliot Anderson found Gibbs-White who raced towards the Wolves defence, exchanged passes with Anthony Elanga and found the bottom corner via a deflection.

The former Wolves man was met with sadness from the home fans since kick-off and celebrated by putting his fingers in his ears.

An incredible block from Murillo on the line prevented Jorgen Strand Larsen from equalizing after a great run from Hwang Hee-chan, before Sels made a superb save from Rodrigo Gomes’ strike.

Another superb save denied Larsen’s header from close range before Forest thought they had a penalty for handball, but a VAR check pardoned Rayan Ait-Nouri.

A long ball forward then allowed Callum Hudson-Odoi to accelerate down the left and his cutback found Wood, who scored his 12th goal of the season.

Larsen had another good effort saved after the break, but Forest managed the game superbly to win once again – with substitute Awoniyi on hand to tap in James Ward-Prowse’s pass after another electric break right at the end .
