I’m sharing my current winter skincare routine, from luxurious moisturizers to exfoliating masks, using safer products.
Hello friends! How are you all? I hope you are enjoying the winter season so far and managing to stay warm in winter!
For today’s post, I’m sharing my winter skincare routine, including how to protect your skin and how to help it feel soft and hydrated.
THE colder the air outside (I live in Arizona after all!) and the dry heat inside strip my skin of its natural moisture, leaving it prone to dryness during the winter months; so it’s essential to change up my skincare routine this time of year to help my skin retain moisture and maintain a healthy, happy complexion. Keep scrolling for more details on my personal skincare routine that I swear by for hydrated, glowing skin, especially on dry, cold winter days.
The first step is a gentle cleanser that removes makeup and impurities without over-drying, an important step for any skin type but especially if you have sensitive skin. Next, I incorporate my beloved vitamin C serum, rich in antioxidants and moisturizer containing ingredients like hyaluronic acid and ceramides to help hydrate the skin, lock in moisture and repair the barrier skin.
Additionally, weekly exfoliation with a gentle scrub or chemical exfoliant can remove dead skin cells, promoting a radiant glow. I alternate between my favorite masks, listed below.
Finally, applying a broad-spectrum sunscreen, even on cloudy days, provides protection against harmful UV rays. It’s my choice.
This is what my winter skincare routine looks like. It changes and evolves over time with new products I find or love, but these are some of my tried and true favorites.
My Winter Skincare Routine
Cleanser and serums
Using the right cleanser and serum is essential for an effective winter skincare routine. Opt for a hydrating serum and cream or oil-based cleansers that will protect your skin’s moisture barrier, while avoiding any products with harsh, drying ingredients like sulfates.
Exfoliants and masks
Exfoliators and masks are great for removing built-up dirt, grime and dead skin cells, while masks can revitalize and restore your skin, leaving you with a radiant, natural glow.
Moisturizers
Arguably the most important part of any winter skincare routine is your moisturizer. Look for products with ultra-hydrating ingredients, like shea butter, for longer-lasting hydration, even on the driest winter days.
Tools
While not absolutely necessary for an effective skincare routine, the right tools can make things easier and even improve your results.
