Speaking to SEN Radio, Hockley expressed his disappointment at the on-field altercation, saying:
“Physical contact on the cricket field is a total no-no. It wasn’t great. Obviously Virat accepting this charge shows he took responsibility, and I thought Sam Konstas did demonstrated remarkable maturity by disposing of it gracefully.”
The clash, which occurred during a moment of intense competition, earned Kohli a fine of 20% of his match fee by the International Cricket Council (ICC). While some debated the appropriateness of the sanction, Hockley refrained from speculating on the decision, leaving it to the match officials.
“We have a very experienced panel of officials, and Virat accepting the charge is the main thing. The code is clear, and it is up to the match referee to take decisions in the normal course,” Hockley added.

“I think it was a brave and bold decision. Looking at the top order, it was exciting to see all four players score 50 yesterday. Sam’s ability to adapt and solve problems was a highlight for me. His innovative shots, including impressive ramp shots, presented the new era of cricket, “ Hockley said.
The young batter’s poise under pressure, coupled with his impressive Sheffield Shield and PM XI performances, have made him an exciting addition to the team.
