Pamela Anderson and Jamie Lee Curtis recently spoke with Parade to discuss their new film, “The Last Showgirl.”
The two women play best friends in the film about a 57-year-old Las Vegas showgirl (played by Anderson) who comes to terms with the possible end of her career as she gets older. Anderson is also a single mother in the film, and the actresses discuss being mothers and juggling careers in the entertainment industry.
“The center of the film is the story of a single mother who chose to do her art and the consequences if her child comes back and says, ‘It hurts me that you chose your art over me,'” said Curtis. . “Most working mothers around the world will see this film and identify with this complex issue.”

Jamie Lee Curtis learns her co-star can play the saxophone
Anderson shocked Curtis when she revealed that she played saxophone in her high school jazz band.
The 66-year-old “Knives Out” star stopped Anderson in the middle of her story about her audition for “The Naked Gun” reboot, after casually noticing her musical abilities. Both actresses talked about lying to get a role.
“My first audition was ‘Naked Gun.’ It just happened,” Anderson said. “So I didn’t have to lie, you know? Even – even though they thought I was lying because actually, I – I was in a jazz band and I played [the] saxophone.”
“Okay, stop! Everyone stop,” Curtis interrupted. “Let’s stop for just a second. And I’m just going to turn around in my chair. Just a little bit. Wait, please. Now you can start practicing that again. Have you played the saxophone?”

“In [junior] high school,” Anderson responded.

The “Barb Wire” actress truly amazed Curtis when she noticed that she could not only play the saxophone, but also scat, a jazz style of singing.
“I did all the scat solos,” Anderson added.
“What the fuck is going on?” exclaimed the “Halloween actress.”
“And so in the movie ‘The Naked Gun,’ I got to sing,” she continued. “I’m doing a scat solo, and so I remember telling him, you know? ‘Me, in middle school, I did all the scat solos.’ And he was like, “No, do one now.” I was like, “Scooby doo and dooby doo and doo-dat doo-dat.” »
Curtis couldn’t contain her shock and exclaimed again, “What the fuck is going on?”

Curtis reveals ‘The Last Showgirl’ was filmed in 18 days

Curtis noted in the interview they filmed “The last showgirl” in just 18 days.
The ‘Blue Steel’ actress also revealed that the film set was predominantly made up of women.
“It was a really intense, beautiful kind of confluence of artists and women — mostly women,” Curtis said. “And, you know, we’re playing the role of best friends, so the immediacy of that, it was in a weird way, the minute we touched, it was like all my life experiences came in in her. All her life experiences were going into me, and we said ‘oh that’s right’ and then, you know, I moved on.”
“Yes, and we’re in this together,” Anderson agreed.
Anderson and Curtis are both SAG Award nominees
Anderson plays a single mother and dancer facing the end of her Las Vegas show in “The Last Showgirl.” The film is directed by Gia Coppola.
Curtis plays Anderson’s character’s best friend in the film, and both actresses are nominated for a Screen Actors Guild Award.
Anderson is nominated for Best Actress in a Leading Role in a Motion Picture. She was also nominated for the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress. Oscar winner Curtis was nominated for Best Supporting Female in a Motion Picture.
The Last Showgirl” is currently in theaters.
