A house on The Nantucket Coast seriously threatened by beach erosion, was demolished.
Workers demolished the house, located on the southern coast of Massachusetts Island, earlier this week. according to the Nantucket Current.

Its destruction came about six months after Ticketnetwork Inc co-founder Don Vaccaro purchased the coastal property from its longtime owners. a $200,000 deal during the summer of 2024.
Municipal authorities reportedly decided in December that the house should be demolished.
BILLIONAIRE FORCED TO DEMOLISH NANTUCKET BEACH HOUSE
The sea has moved closer and closer to it over the years, with 10 to 20 feet of beach that lined it disappearing in the past six months, the news outlet reported.
Photos showed an excavator destroying the two-story home and putting the debris in a nearby dumpster.

Vaccaro, who also owns a neighboring property, told the Nantucket Current that he “was able to use it for a week with my family and my kids in both houses, which was an invaluable experience, so it was worth it in the end.”
“Unfortunately, the city wanted to demolish the house for safety reasons, and we granted the city’s request even though the structure of the house was still solid,” he was quoted as saying.

The previous owners sold the house to Vaccaro for just $200,000 after receiving a “call out of the blue” from him, the Nantucket Current reported last year. Property records viewed Friday showed an assessed value of nearly $1.3 million.
Prior to its offer, they had not been listed for sale because they said they did not want to “sell to someone when we knew a storm could blow it away next week,” according to the media.
Vaccaro said in a statement to FOX Business in early July last year, shortly after the house changed hands, that he had “no illusions that the house would remain in place for more than a year, and that he had bought it on the assumption that it would be in the water. by spring 2025.”

Coastal erosion is a phenomenon that many areas of Nantucket must deal with.
On the south coast, the island experiences annual beach erosion “between 0.56 and 12.63 feet,” the local government said on its website.
