President Donald Trump said on Monday that Microsoft was in talks to acquire Tiktok, shortly after the application on social networks became dark last week. He also suggested that he would like to see an auction war on the popular platform.

Trump previously declared that he was in discussion with several parties on a potential acquisition of Tiktok, which has around 170 million American users, and plans to make a decision on the future of the application in the next 30 days, reported Reuters.

The application was briefly disconnected just before a law, which required that the derivation of selling it or to face a ban, took effect on January 19. However, after taking office on January 20, Trump signed an executive decree delaying the execution of the law of 75 days.

The law has been implemented due to the concerns that the application abused the data of its users.
