This article contains spoilers For “adolescence”.
A four -part drama on Netflix quickly became one of the most spoken television series in 2025 and One of the best originals from Netflix never released. After the beloved British star Stephen Graham explained his period boxing drama “A Thousand Blows” (A dream watch for fans of “Peaky Blinders”)He followed with “adolescence” in which he co-written and embodies. Graham embodies Eddie Miller, the father of Jamie Miller, 13 (newcomer Owen Cooper), who is arrested for suspicion of having murdered one of his classmates, Katie (Emilia Holliday). A flawless and continuous history followed while the family and the community affected by this brutal case are forced to collect the parts after the fallout. Each chapter is filmed In a breathtaking outletWinning its legitimate place among some of the greatest a single strokes of history.
Jumping time through the days, weeks and months, sorrow and trauma resulting from the tragedy in the heart of “adolescence” infiltrates the bones of the city and its inhabitants, the Miller family modified forever because of this. In the end, there are only tears and parents to wonder where everything went wrong, haunted by the wish that they can never take it back. So how did “adolescence” end and what creative choices were made to apply the perfectly timed elements woven everywhere? To start, we must first remember that Eddie and Manda Miller (Christine Tremarco) are forced to face the truth that their apparently sweet young son has nothing to do with the boy whom they believed to evoke.
What you need to remember the intrigue of adolescence – Jamie killed Katie
An sub-genre in murder dramas lately, “adolescence” establishes in his first episode that it is not a “whodunit?” But a “why-Faire-IT?” Addressing his first big question in the initial time. As much as he cries for his parents when he was taken to a police car and as much as he promises to his father that he did not commit the act that the inspector-detective Luke Bascombe (Ashley Walters) accuses him, the video proof proves the opposite. Jamie killed Katie, and there is nothing that he can do now to take it back.
It is the first in a series of emotional punches and a moment of case closure which is the configuration of the show, but the one Graham reveals was carefully managed before pulling the carpet under his audience with the help of his young co-star. “It was in the cast. We wanted the public to be on the side of Jamie and thought:” Oh my God, this arrest is terrible. There is no way he did this “, said Graham Tudum. Of course, video sequences show Jamie Jamie brutally stabbing Katie several times, and everyone, including her father, looks at total disbelief. “We wanted the public to feel the same feelings that Eddie feels when he looks at him and realizes what Jamie did.” This is one of the first book cleaks of what is undoubtedly a better career performance of Graham, the other being in the last moments of the series with a teddy bear.
What happened at the end of adolescence?
Episode 4 revisits the Miller family 13 months after Katie’s brutal murder on Eddie’s birthday, with Jamie’s trial just at the corner of the street. In a house of smiles and tears stretched behind closed doors, Eddie, Manda, and their daughter Lisa (Amelie Pease) try to spend the day like the others. It is an effort that ends with more sorrows and difficulties when Eddie finds his work van Vandalized, and a call from Jamie who throws a wave of silence on the family. After competing against the accusations from the start, the Miller Boy accepts his crime and changes his plea to guilt, ensuring that a strong prison sentence will head towards him.
From there, it only remains Eddie and Manda to wonder where everything went wrong. Would they should have been tired of late hours than their son was in front of his computer and the toxic culture in which he fell who consumed him? Could some other talks between father and son have been able to prevent him from performing his unthinkable act? These are all questions to which Eddie knows that he will never get the answer, and alone in Jamie’s room, he sobbed in his son’s bed for not having seen the signs. Finally, he takes the teddy bear of his son and puts him in his bed, apologizing as if it was his own flesh and his blood. “I’m sorry, son,” whisper Eddie. “I should have done better.” It is a moment that is unleashed masterfully by Graham, which has been improved with the help of his own family out of camera.
Stephen Graham obtained additional help from his own children for the adolescence final
Speaking to Radio time About the latest emotional moments of “adolescence”, Stephen Graham revealed that even if he could have been alone in the closing scene of the series, his real family was there with him, bringing him emotional support. “The taking we really used was the last taking of everything, and during this last catch, my wife [Graham’s producing partner, Hannah Walters, who also stars as a teacher in the show] And my two children were also there. “”
Graham’s family has made an additional effort for their father’s acting power by publishing messages on the wall that we see him appear by blow, increasing the number of tears at such an impressive level. “And so when I get into the room, what they had done was that they put photos on the wardrobe, and he said:” So proud of you, we love you, dad. “And it was photos of my two children, Grace and Alfie, that I love.” There was also the additional thought of his son on the screen and the star of the creation which encouraged him. “So this genre sparked this last final scene at this moment also while I was thinking of him, with whom I had the most incredible experience.” This makes it one of the most memorable father-son relationships recently represented on television, and it could be revised if Graham applies the same way of working in the past.
Will season 2 of adolescence ever occur?
Even if Netflix did not make any announcements on giving “adolescence” a second season, the opportunities are hidden in the cracks of this broken and dark story which could allow us to see it again.
Jamie has changed his plea as a culprit, but we still do not know how severe her conviction or the additional ramifications that have an impact on her family when her case is tried. Do the Millers, who promise each other in the program’s final, that they will not move, do they stick to their plan despite the current ostracization in the city? How did Eddie, emotionally devastated by the bomb, fell home, will he manage to maintain him together? More importantly, is there a chance that Jamie, finally recognizing his actions, finds reprogramming during his stay in prison? There is an obvious argument to which none of this should be answered, but considering some of Graham’s best performances with two of his previous characters, he should be managed just as well.
“This is England” and “Billing Point” are two films that house a pair of better works by the actor, and in both cases, he has taken up the respective roles in spin-off television shows. By keeping this in mind, it is clear that the creative force behind this essential Netflix original has in him to return to roles for which he has shown a real passion, refining and tighting these fragile souls which he gave life so brilliantly. “Adolescence” could also be a penalty to grow.
