(Reuters) – The semiconductor startup Groq said on Monday that it had obtained a $ 1.5 billion commitment from Saudi Arabia to extend the delivery of its advanced AI chips to the country.

Groq, founded by an old alphabet engineer, is known to produce AI inference fleas that optimize speed and run the commands of pre-formed models.

The startup has an existing agreement with Aramco Digital, the technological subsidiary of major Aramco oil, by which companies have built a critical Center in the region in December.

The commitment, which lacked specific details on the calendar or the location of the investment, was announced during the Saudi world technological event, Leap 2025. During this event, the country obtained 14.9 billion Dollars of Fresh AI investments.

In August, Groq won an evaluation of $ 2.8 billion after collecting $ 640 million in a funding tour led by Cisco Investments, Samsung Catalyst Fund and Blackrock Private Equity Partners.
