Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold remains fully “committed” to the club and will play against Manchester United on Sunday, manager Arne Slot has said.

Spanish giants Real Madrid are reportedly interested in signing the England full-back – who can leave Anfield on a free transfer this summer.

Latest reports suggest Real are keen on a move this month, but Slot has no concerns about his player’s state of mind ahead of the second half of the Premier League season after speaking to him.

He said: “I completely understand the question and why you’re asking it, but you already know the answer: I’ve never shared these conversations, not about Trent, not about anyone else, about what I’m talking to them about.

“It was a conversation like many others me and Trent have had, so let’s leave it at that.

“I can tell you that he is playing on Sunday and I hope he brings the same performances as last half-year, because everyone saw what a great first half of the season he had, how well he is here, how much he wants to win here.

“I see him on the training ground every day working hard. He is fully committed to us and he will play on Sunday.

“If it destabilized the Liverpool players if other people were talking about them then we would really have a problem because if you play at one of the biggest clubs in the world everyone is always talking – for 12 months – about you, sometimes in relation to other clubs.

“It happens so many times to our players, so if it destabilizes them, we really would have had a problem, not only now but over the last six months, because there have been discussions about our players over the last six months and I don’t I don’t think it fazed them at all.

Like Alexander-Arnold, key players Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk are also out of contract at the end of the season.
