A recent episode of Shark Tank India Season 4 on Sonyliv included a family family based in Gurugram by launching their brand, the secret of the Nidhi grandmother, a hair without chemicals made from 13 herbs. To prove the purity of their product, the founders Nidhi and Rajat drank the oil in front of the judges. Their daring movement has left Aman Gupta visibly disgusted, while Anupam Mittal joked, “Bhai Andar Baal Ugne Lag Padnege” (your hair will start to push inside).
The family – Rajat, his wife Nidhi, and his mother Rajni – fell for 70 Lakh for a 2%stake, evaluating the company at 35 sterling books.
Difficult questions of sharks
While they presented their products, Vineeta Singh stressed that not all were without chemicals, including their “herbal sindoor”. When Aman wondered how their brand differs from Avimee Herbal, a similar company presented in season 2, Rajat did not give a clear response. Nidhi jumped into it, declaring that their oil was made from fresh ingredients.
Sharks were also skeptical about Rajat’s history to failed companies. Aman said to him without “you are not serious, Vishwaas nahi aa pa raha” (I do not trust you), and suggested that the company could have had a better chance if only Nidhi and Rajni had presented it. Vineeta also fell.
An agreement with Anupam Mittal
Peyush Bansal saw the potential in their hair oil, but advised them to focus on it instead of diversifying. Kunal Bahl warned Rajat against the constant search for backup plans, saying: “You will never make a big business if you always think of backups.” He also refused to invest.
Despite skepticism, Anupam Mittal made an offer, and after the negotiations, they sealed the agreement at 70 Lakh for 5% and 1% of royalties, evaluating the company at 14 ₹ ₹.
