Video game movies have a moment in Hollywood, reinforced by the flight success of Sonic The Hedgehog and Mario, and not even Border districts Flopping can derail the momentum. Even Assassin’s Creed benefits from the renewed interest for almost a decade after having introduced the moviegoers of the “jump of the faith” and the animus. Not only is the film classified in the top ten of Max, once again, but with the age and ease of repeated views, it came from appreciation.

An adventure of the suite of history

1492 Assassin’s Creed

Michael Fassbender Not only the stars Assassin’s Creed As Callum, a man imprisoned by Abstergo Corporation, but behind the scenes, he was an engine of making the film. A huge fan of the game franchise, Fassbender wanted to bring the mixture of parkour, action and historic conspiracies of the series on the big screen. The immediate problem was however how to explain the concept of genetic memory, animus, Eden apple, the ancients and the war between the assassins and the Templars, in a film?

Assassin’s Creed gave the college test by showing the first stages of Callum attached to the Animus, allowing scientists assembled to see the life of his ancestor in 1492 Spain during the Spanish Inquisition. The film bounces between the modern setting and 1492 to solve the mystery of the Eden apple, while Callum and its captured murderous colleagues trace their escape from the installation of Abstergo. In addition to all this, there is Callum dealing with the problems of his father and the strange effects of a prolonged exhibition at the Animus.

When Assassin’s Creed Focusing on action, it is a fun roller coaster, but the other half of the film, which explores the layers of conspiracies at the heart of the series, was too complex and too difficult to explain in less than two hours, that it lost the theatrical audience in the process. Ironically, this is what makes the film ideal for streamingBecause it rewards not only several views, but it is easier for fans to replay the sequences 1492 over and over. This also helps that the film takes after the first match in the series which, in recent years, has abandoned the Parkour and the modern sequences for an in -depth role -playing game and large open worlds.

A return at the origin of the franchise

Nostalgia for what the franchise was previously not enough to shoot the return game Assassin’s Creed: Mirage In a blow, but it helped fuel the film in a lasting success Max. In 2016, the film won $ 240 million, which would be a good blow for a video game film, except for the budget of $ 120 million that does not even take into account marketing. The disappointing total was sufficient for DisneyAfter buying 20th Century Fox, to cancel the continuation while it was in production, and the third film in the proposed trilogy failed to set itself up before its ax.

Assassin’s Creed should have been the beginning of a new film franchise and although we have refused the planned trilogy, it always stands out as a daring attempt to bring the plot and the mechanics of a video game on the big screen. It is difficult to bring the exact feeling of an interactive support to a non -interactive support, but the film has tried, and for that, it at least dared to fully embrace its roots instead of, let’s say, the resident Evil Franchise, which has moved away from them screaming.

Assassin’s Creed is streaming on max.
