The Maha Kumbh Mela 2025 in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, not only excited the participants but also piqued the interest of observers. Mahindra Group Chairman and industry titan Anand Mahindra recently shared insights from a blog post by Harvard Business School Professor Tarun Khanna.

Khanna is currently participating in the mega event in Prayagraj. According to Mahindra’s post on X, the professor mentioned Chai Point in his blog.

“Professor Tarun Khanna of Harvard Business School. Tarun Khanna is at the Maha Kumbh. His daily observations provide a fascinating view of what is happening there…. This edition of the blog was particularly interesting and worth sharing with all of you “, wrote Mahindra on X.

“The stores are also pop-up stores, the chai is made by state-of-the-art robots, the best in the world, delivered with consistency and high quality, at very low prices. Eat your heart out, Starbucks. Once again, the chai tradition married to modern technology”, we can read on the blog.

Chai Point and its partner Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF) are hoping to set a Guinness World Record for the highest number of cups sold at a single event. They hope to sell more than a million cups of tea at Maha Kumbh.

Every cup of tea served at the stalls will contain Nandini milk. Sweets and milkshakes from the same brand will also be served, according to media reports.

Prof Khanna also said in his message that the ‘city’ is a marvel in itself as it is ‘built on the banks of a regularly receding sacred river, to be finally dismantled in an eco-friendly and efficient manner’.

He also shared a photo of para commandos armed with space-age surveillance infrastructure such as a NASA-style control room, reconnaissance and surveillance drones, and distributed sensors for troubleshooting and security.

The Maha Kumbh Mela is an important Hindu event that occurs every 144 years. The event is expected to attract more than 40 million visitors this year. The Maha Kumbh 2025 is being held in Prayagraj from January 13 to February 26.
