In mid-February, Trump signed an executive decree imposing reciprocal rates on American trade partners, effectively increasing imports on imports to equal American exports.

The Trump administration aims to complete its commercial examination by April 1 and plans to target what it calls the most “flagrant” problems, including countries with large trade surpluses with the United States and the highest tariff rate on American goods.
The president’s prices were rates higher by other countries and would aim to counter other trade obstacles such as heavy regulations, value added taxes, government grants and exchange rate policies and negotiate with certain countries to reduce these obstacles.
