A Bengaluru resident recently took to social media to highlight what he considers to be “fraudulent” practices by Blinkit. The user shared their experience ordering oil through the app as part of an offer advertising a free extra liter. However, upon delivery, the promised free liter of oil was not included.
“I ordered 5 L + 1 L of oil from Blinkit. Advertised as 5L + 1L on the app for Rs 1072. Delivery agent only delivers 5L,” wrote the customer, identified as “Adventurous-Parsnip3”, in a post shared on Reddit’s Bengaluru community.
The customer detailed that after filing a complaint, Blinkit responded by offering a Rs 100 coupon as compensation, significantly lower than the value of the missing liter of oil.
“We filed a complaint with Blinkit and asked to either give us the entire order or take back the 5L. They are now saying they will give a Rs 100 coupon for an item that was 1072/6 = Rs 178 because that is the maximum allowed under their policy,” the Reddit user explained.
Redditor “Adventurous-Parsnip3” also pointed out that Blinkit’s internal policy is not binding on its customers.
“Politics is an internal framework. The purpose of a policy is to set internal limits for resolution. As a consumer, we have nothing to do with the policy applied by Blinkit management. We have no contractual obligation in this regard,” they said.
The user added: “They further claim that a liter of oil was free and therefore no value can be assigned to it”, while questioning this practice and asking: “What remedies are available against such fraud? »
“Blinkit earns Rs.
The Redditor revealed that he escalated the issue by contacting Blinkit’s official support page on X (formerly Twitter), eventually getting a refund of Rs 180.
“I posted it to @blinkitcares on Twitter (X). Now they want to refund Rs. 175. They told them they will refund 178.83 or nothing,” they shared in an update.
In a follow-up post, they added: “I received a refund of Rs 180 from Blinkit after raising the issues with @BlinkitCares on go beyond the system. . Oh, I feel special today.”
