Bollywood star Saif Ali Khan is recovering from surgery after being stabbed multiple times in an alleged home invasion at his Mumbai home.
The popular actor, 54, suffered at least six stab wounds, including one near his spine, during what his team described as an attempted robbery in Mumbai’s Bandra area early on Thursday (January 16). , according to the ANI press agency.
Dr Nitin Dange from Lilavati Hospital, where Khan is being treated, told reporters that the actor “suffered a serious injury to his thoracic spinal cord due to a knife stuck in his spine,” the BBC.
“Surgery was performed to remove the knife and repair the spinal fluid leak. Two more deep wounds on the left hand and another on the neck were repaired by the plastic surgery team,” Dange added.
Khan’s team told ANI in a statement: “Saif Ali Khan is out of surgery and is out of danger. He is currently recovering and doctors are monitoring his progress. All family members are safe and police are investigating the incident.

Deputy Commissioner of Police, Mumbai Dixit Gedam said the attack was under investigation and a citywide manhunt was underway.
“One of the accused has been identified, but has not yet been arrested and has fled,” Gedam said, according to News from the sky. “He entered the house through a fire escape and accessed the stairs. We are also investigating other people involved in the incident. Our police teams are now present across the city of Mumbai and have reached beyond the city limits as well.”
Khan is married to another Bollywood star Kareena Kapoor. The couple shares two children, Taimur, 8, and Jeh, 4.
“There was an attempted burglary at the residence of Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan last night. Saif suffered an injury to his arm for which he is hospitalized for surgery. The rest of the family is fine.
