Agents with the US Customs and border protection (CBP) will no longer carry body cameras during field operations after publication of social media how to identify individual agents.
“All American border patrol agents will cease the use of cameras carried on the body (BWC) in all operational environments,” CBP said in a newsnation statement, which initially announced the news.

CBP managers sent a directive following the position informing agents of a “potential security risk” while immediately pulling body cameras from the field.
“Pending the completion of the investigation and the attenuation of the risks, all the agents will summarize the use of their BWCS [body worn cameras] until further notice. Additional advice and information will be disseminated as they received, “said the directive.
Sources have told Newsnation that the cameras used by CBP agents are Avon Body Cams, which, according to the social media post, are blue radar devices, which has been developed by F-Droid, can detect.

The directive occurs while CBP and US immigration and customs (ICE) agents increased application efforts in the weeks that followed President Donald Trump took office, an effort that was the cornerstone of the president’s campaign to return to the White House.
