The Premier League saw four games played before the two evening games on Saturday.
At the start of the kick -off, Nottingham Forest took a huge step towards football in the Champions League by beating Manchester City in front of a city ground.
A second half’s strike by Callum Hudson-Odoi was sufficient to pick up the three points and lift the delicate trees in third place, above their opponents and with a five-point stamp in Chelsea in fifth.
In Anfield, Liverpool moved 16 points at the top of the table, coming from behind to beat Southampton.
Will Smallbone capitalized on a defensive mixture between Alisson and Virgil Van Dijk to give the saints a shock lead before half-time.
But the Reds came out by pulling in the second half, and a double shot between Darwin Nunez and Mohamed Salah but the other side at home.
Salah then caught his second from the penalty point late, scoring his 27th goal of the campaign and sealing victory.

Brighton 2-1 Fulham
Brighton won a spectacular 2-1 victory over Fulham at the Amex stadium, with a penalty from the 98th minute of Joao Pedro proving the decisive moment.
The visitors took the lead in the first half thanks to Raul Jimenez, who finished after a brilliant race and cross Alex Iwobi.
However, Fulham’s advantage was short -lived while Brighton responded a few minutes later.
Yasin Ayari delivered a free kick inviting in the box, allowing Jan Paul Van Hecke to return his first goal for the club home and level the scoring at 1-1.
Brighton dominated the second half, pushing tirelessly for a winner. They have created several opportunities, including a prohibited objective for Simon Adingra after a Var for Offside review, and saw Danny Welbeck waste a free head of a Joao Pedro cross.
While the game came into downtime, Brighton’s persistence has paid off. The replacement Harrison Reed defeated Pedro inside the penalty area in the last moments, leaving the referee without hesitation to point to the spot.
Pedro intensified and has confidently deposited his penalty after Bernd Leno, obtaining the three points for the Seagulls with practically the last kick of the match.

Crystal Palace 1-0 Ipswich
Crystal Palace won his third consecutive victory in the Premier League with a 1-0 evil victory over Ipswich at Selhurst Park.
Ismaila Sarr’s late strike has proven the difference in an entertaining confrontation which has experienced a lot of chance at both ends.
The first half was an animated affair, the two parties leading to break. Palace should have continued within two minutes when Adam Wharton’s precise pass put Eddie Nketiah to the goal, but the goalkeeper of Ipswich, Josh Palmer, made an excellent stop.
Ipswich responded immediately, while Jaden Philogène forced Dean Henderson to a net stop.
The end -to -end action continued while Ebechi Eze approached, only to be refused by an excellent block of Jacob Greaves.
The visitors had other opportunities, Liam Delap and Philogène were both approaching, but none of the games could find the net before half-time.
The second half began with an almost museum of Eze, whose deflected shot hit the post.
Ipswich then created several chances on their part, with Delap and Philogène testing Henderson again. At the other end, Sarr and Matheus Munoz forced Palmer to impressive stops, while Palace pushed for the breakthrough.
The decisive moment has arrived in the 82nd minute. Wharton found Daichi Kamada on the edge of the box, and after a deviation off Kalvin Phillips, the ball fell gently in Sarr, who produced a delicious chip on Palmer to give the head to Palace.
This result puts the palace in 11th place, after winning nine of their last 11 games in all competitions.
Meanwhile, the difficulties of Ipswich continue because they remain without a championship victory in 2025 and remain in 18th place, five points of security.
