Depleted Tottenham will be without Ben Davies at home to Wolves on Sunday after the defender suffered a setback on his return from a hamstring injury.

Wales international Davies has not played since Spurs’ 1-0 defeat at Bournemouth on December 5, with manager Ange Postecoglou expecting the 31-year-old to miss a “couple of weeks” more.

Centre-back Radu Dragusin is a doubt after being sent off during Tottenham’s 1-0 defeat at Nottingham Forest on Thursday, adding to an injury list which includes Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero.

Spurs vs Wolves: “Another test”

“We are in a difficult situation and have been for some time,” Postecoglou said. “The nature of football and the match schedule means we have always been on a delicate line. This is another test for us.

Tottenham’s only clean sheet in their last nine games came against Southampton, who have scored four fewer goals than any other team in the top flight.

Postecoglou, who brought 18-year-old Archie Gray back from midfield to defense to help ease the situation, said it was “a bit early to say” whether Dragusin would be involved at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

“He twisted his ankle and felt like he couldn’t continue,” added the Australian after Anthony Elanga scored the only goal of the match. “We have to wait and see.”

Tottenham results

Spurs have lost four of their last five league matches, with their 5-0 win over Saints on December 15 representing their only victory in their last six matches in the top flight.

Wolves won 2-0 at home to Manchester United on Thursday to record back-to-back wins since Vitor Pereira was appointed manager.

They are now the eighth highest scorers in the division and one point clear of third-placed Leicester City.
