The promoter of Golden Boy Oscar de la Hoya had a little excavation on Keyshawn Davis on Saturday evening saying that his fighter, Oscar Duarte (29-2-1, 23 KB) had eliminated Miguel Madueno (31-4, 28 KOS ), while Keyshawn couldn’t. It is not that the first row promoted physically could not eliminate Madueno.
From the Hoya did not come right away and said it, but what he refers is Duarte is a better fighter than Keyshawn. He stopped saying it, but that is obviously what he meant when he stressed that Duarte had done better than Keyshawn. He is right. Duarte played much better against Maudeno than Davis.
Fear or strategy?
Power was there for this fight, but courage was not. After having tasted the power of the Mexican fighter, Keyshawn looked afraid of being hit. So, instead of trying a helping hand, he transformed the fight into a WWE type match filled with wrestling tactics. The referee allowed Keyshawn to use tactics without disqualifying it. Last Friday, Keyshawn still used the same tactics.
Davis won the WBO Lightweight title last Friday evening, crawling a Denys Berinchyk champion in four laps at Madison Square Garden Theater in New York. Last year, July 6, Keyshawn traveled the distance of ten laps, beating Madoo by a unanimous decision.
Keyshawn seemed to be afraid to fight aggressively against Madueno as if he had done against Berinchyk because he could hit, and he was hit hard during the first laps when he fought. Davis seemed to abandon the idea after the third round when he ate big punches of Madueno.
“Keyshawn Davis could not knock out Madueño. It tells you about it on Oscar Duarte and Keyshawn because he has just won the world title last night, “the Oscar de la Hoya told Dazn after the victory at Oscar Duarte in the seventh round on Miguel Madueno on Saturday Last evening.
