Elvie, the company known for its popular portable breast pumpis introducing a new piece of baby gear at CES. Called Rise, it’s an app-controlled baby lounger that can transform into a crib with a baby inside.

The device, at $799, is designed for infants in the first months of life. Elvie says the bouncer works for babies up to 20 lbs or 6 months, while the bassinet is for babies up to 5 months or 22 lbs.

In “bouncer mode,” parents can customize the specific bounce pattern from the accompanying Elvie Rise Sleep & Soothe app. The company says its “SootheLoop” technology is meant to be a gentle movement that more closely resembles the movement of a caregiver than a repetitive robotic movement. There is also a manual mode for babies to bounce as they grow and get stronger.

In her press release, Elvie says her own study found that two-thirds of babies between 0 and 3 months often sleep in “unsafe” products like bouncers or swings. The Rise is intended to solve this problem, as parents can switch from lounger mode to crib mode without hopefully waking their child.

The Rise is equipped with a “transition handle” that allows parents to switch the device from one mode to another. In bouncer mode, this involves pushing on the bottom end, near the legs, and squeezing the handle to pull the sides up to form the walls. from the cradle. The lounger mode straps automatically retract to make it a suitable surface for sleeping.

The company says its bassinet meets the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) sleep safety guidelines, although babies should not be left unattended in the bouncer. The device is also supposed to be more portable than a typical crib. It folds up for easy transport and has a magnetic charger so it can be used even when not plugged in.

The Elvie Rise is available now for pre-order. The company plans to start shipping orders on March 14, 2025.
