The boss of Chelsea, Enzo Maresca, remains “100%” sure of his position for the season, despite the drop in the form of the team, according to the director of the club, Jonathan Goldstein.

After moving from Leicester City, Maresca supervised an impressive start to his mandate in western London.

Chelsea was in competition alongside Liverpool and Arsenal for the title of Premier League before the Christmas period.

However, since their 2-0 victory against Brentford in December, Chelsea has only won two victories in his last nine championship games.

Their latest setback was a heavy 3-0 defeat against Brighton, which raises concerns about their performance.

Despite the history of club management changes, Chelsea has now fallen in sixth place, leaving the qualification points of the Champions League.

However, Goldstein publicly expressed support for Maresca, becoming the first member of the board of directors to do so.

“He does an excellent job,” said Goldstein, a key figure in the Blueco consortium that acquired Chelsea in 2022. “Chelsea started the season very well.

“The past six weeks have been, you know, find their feet a little more. But Enzo clearly did a great job by bringing together the team, bringing together talent.

When asked if Maresca would remain in charge for the rest of the season, Goldstein simply said: “100%.”

Chelsea is expected to face Aston Villa on Saturday in a crucial match that could have a significant impact on their chances of securing European football next season.

While Chelsea initially seemed to be contenders for the title, Maresca has always declared that their main objective had always been to guarantee a finish among the first four rather than putting a championship challenge.
