Manchester United midfielder Christian Eriksen says he expects to leave the club this summer at the end of his contract.

Eriksen, 33, has played nearly 100 games for the club since his Brentford signature in the summer of 2022.

He wants to continue his career in Denmark Lgendary in the World Cup next year, so he has excluded a return to his native country – for the moment.

He said: “I have heard nothing from the club, and therefore I guess the collaboration will stop. This is how I interpret it.

“My contract expires this summer, and I’m ready to find something new. I agree with that. Where he will be, I have not yet decided.

“I wait and see the offers. I’m not going to make hasty decisions, but if the right thing comes, I’m going to make it.

“The intention is not to stay in England and I am not going to the United States, we are not going so far. We would like to stay in Europe, but it is too early to return home to Denmark.

“My ambition is always to play for the national team, and therefore I don’t think it’s time to go home.”

Eriksen collapsed after a cardiac arrest during the euros in 2021, but recovered completely and played every minute from the World Cup campaign in 2022 in Denmark.

He has a record of 140 caps for his country and scored 43 goals – just nine behind the record shared by Poul Nielsen and the former man from Newcastle Jon Dahl Tomasson.
