A popular brand of organic milk is recalling thousands of boxes of milk due to spoilage concerns, according to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
The recall involves the 8-ounce size of Horizon Organic Aseptic Plain Whole Milk. A total of 19,688 cases were recalled, and the recall was reclassified to Class II on January 17.
The expiration dates for the recalled products are between March 3 and 7, 2025. The milk was sold in Arizona, California and Nevada.
The affected products were sold under UPC code 3663207113 for a container of 12 packages and under UPC code for a single unit 3663207127.

On its website, the FDA noted that milk is potentially susceptible to “premature spoilage during shelf life.”
According to FDA guidelines, a Class II recall refers to a “situation in which use of or exposure to a violating product may result in temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences or in which the likelihood of serious adverse health consequences are low.

It is not uncommon for foods to be recalled due to spoilage issues.
Earlier this month, Walmart stores recalled more than 12,000 cartons of Great Value brand chicken broth, citing the reason as “a potential for packaging defects that could compromise the sterility of the product, leading to spoilage.”

“The health and safety of our customers is always a top priority,” a Walmart spokesperson said in a statement. “As soon as we were informed of the issue, we took steps to remove all affected products from selected affected stores. We continue to work with the supplier to investigate.”
