Actor Saif Ali Khan’s return home after surgery, walking confidently and smiling at well-wishers, has sparked a heated debate online.
While some celebrate his resilience, some skeptics, including doctors, question the plausibility of his rapid recovery. A Bangalore-based cardiologist, Dr Deepak Krishnamurthy, has stepped in to clear the air, offering a professional perspective on the actor’s remarkable comeback.
“For people who doubt whether Saif Ali Khan actually had spinal surgery (funny, even some doctors!), let me remind you that the recovery times may surprise you,” Krishnamurthy wrote on X.
The doctor shared a video of his mother from 2022, who, at 78, was walking with a fractured foot in a cast and after spinal surgery. “A younger, fitter person like Saif can recover even faster.”
The stab wounds, experts say, bypassed his spinal cord and nerves, not affecting the strength of his leg. Expert surgeons performed a precise procedure without post-surgical complications. Saif’s regular workout regime has played an important role as fitness speeds up recovery after surgery or injury.
Dr Krishnamurthy also termed the disbelief surrounding Saif’s recovery as ignorance. “Nowadays, patients are walking and climbing stairs just three or four days after heart bypass surgery. It’s time to educate ourselves before we proudly display our ignorance on social media,” he said.
Modern surgical advancements and fitness regimes have revolutionized recovery processes. Comparing Saif’s case to his mother’s more complex surgery – a repair of a spinal fracture – Dr. Krishnamurthy noted that she was released within 24 hours and was almost back to walking. immediately.
“What Saif underwent was a repair of a cerebrospinal fluid leak, which was much less serious. At his age and fitness level, recovery should be quicker,” he noted.
“For those questioning Saif’s recovery, especially the doctors, all I can say is get better exposure. Talk to experts, read and learn,” he wrote.
