Forest grab late winner against UCL rivals

The Nottingham Forest won a 1-0 crucial victory against Champions in the title of Manchester City at City Ground, thanks to a brilliant strike by Callum Hudson-Oimoi.

The first 45 minutes were closely disputed, the two teams have trouble creating clear opportunities.

City dominated possession, seeking to break down the well -organized defensive line of Forest, but their usual fluidity in the attack was lacking.

The forest, on the other hand, played on the counterattack, using the rhythm of Anthony Elaga and Hudson-Oimoi to exploit the space left by the city’s high defensive line.

The hosts had their first true opportunity when Chris Wood hung on a long ball above, but his attempted Lobe Ederson was missing power and was comfortably gathered by the Brazilian goalkeeper.

City’s best chance of half-time came when Nico Gonzalez tried his luck at a distance, his shot crashed from the outside of the post. Phil Foden also had the opportunity to break the dead end but saw his effort at close range blocked by Nicolas Dominguez.

The second half started with a more attacker of Forest, which seemed more and more confident in their approach.

They supported the city’s background higher and disturbed above, in particular thanks to the Dribble capacity of Hudson-Oimoi.

City had a dangerous free kick just outside the box, with Kevin de Bruyne working to take it. However, Matz Salts was equal to the task, making a comfortable backup. A few minutes later, a Curling effort from De Bruyne sailed right next to the post.

The breakthrough arrived in the 83rd minute. Morgan Gibbs-White picked up the ball in the midfield and spotted Hudson-Oimoi in the space on the right.

The winger cut inside, took Josko Gvardiol and sparked a powerful blow to the nearby post. The ball has passed Ederson and in the net, sending the crowd to your home in a frenzy.

City responded by throwing more bodies looking for an equalizer. Pep Guardiola presented Omar Marmoush and de Bruyne in order to add more attacker momentum.

Mateo Kovacic had a last opportunity, hitting a volley on the edge of the box, but his effort whistled right next to the post.

Forest held a famous victory, to the delight of their supporters. City Ground was in the middle of the voice while the final whistle confirmed three crucial points for the local team.

Nottingham Forest will seek to rely on this momentum while they are pressure for a finish among the first four. Meanwhile, City will have to come together quickly as they continue them in the last 10 games.
