Former Arsenal forward is new Feyenoord boss

Robin Van Persie returned to his former Feyenoord club as a new coach after an agreement was concluded to release him from his post in Heerenveen.

The 41 -year -old Dutchman signed a contract until June 2027 and will be joined by deputy coach René Hake, who briefly worked under Erik Ten Hag in Manchester United.

“Everyone knows how special my link with Feyenoord is,” said Van Persie.

“I am extremely impatient, with solid staff, to work with players and to succeed together.”

Feyenoord’s managing director Dennis Te Kloese said Van Persie had installed the profile of the coach they were looking for.

Van Persie had signed a two -year agreement with Heerenveen at the start of this season. The club is ninth in the Dutch league and suffered a 9-1 defeat in Az Alkmaar in September, as well as the elimination of the cup by fast boys.

Van Persie scored 46 goals in 123 appearances in two spells for Feyenoord and between the two played for Arsenal, Manchester United and Fenerbahce.

Feyenoord is currently third in the Dutch league, 11 points behind the Ajax Amsterdam leaders and having played one more game.

They will meet Inter Milan during the 16 -year -old Champions League ring next month.
